Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrels is the signature bourbon expression from Angel’s Envy in Louisville, Kentucky. The bourbon is typically aged 4–6 years in new, charred American white oak barrels before undergoing a secondary maturation in port wine barrels from Portugal for up to six additional months.
Angel’s Envy uses ruby port wine casks for the finish, adding layers of ripe fruit, vanilla, maple, toasted nuts and bitter chocolate to the bourbon. The whiskey is blended both before and after its secondary finishing to achieve the intended flavor profile.
