Discover Historia de Santalba, a limited-production Rioja Alta red from 120+ year-old vines, aged 17 months in new French oak for depth and complexity.
Historia de Santalba is a signature red wine from Bodegas Santalba in Gimileo, Rioja Alta. The winery describes it as the culmination of founder Santiago Ijalba’s winemaking career—a unique cuvée created after a lifetime dedicated to producing Rioja wines.
Made from 80% Tempranillo and 20% other varieties from vineyards more than 120 years old, Historia de Santalba undergoes spontaneous fermentation in 600-kilogram French oak vessels and malolactic fermentation in barrel. It is then aged for 17 months in new French oak and bottled without filtration, resulting in a concentrated, structured wine designed for complexity and aging.
