Philippe Gonet Roy Soleil is a Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne produced exclusively from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru vineyards of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs. Created in 2003, the cuvée pays tribute to Louis XIV, the “Roi Soleil,” and reflects Philippe Gonet’s combination of mineral-driven Chardonnay and oak maturation.
The wine is matured in 600-liter oak demi-muids with malolactic fermentation before extended bottle aging. Philippe Gonet’s technical sheet lists a Brut dosage of 6 g/L, while the house notes at least three years of bottle maturation. The result combines ripe citrus and apricot with gingerbread, creamy oak character, freshness and a long mineral finish.
